Joyce Freeman met the love of her life Melvin in California. Their love is indescribable—timeless love of selflessness and devotion. Anyone with the privilege to know them would recognize their true respect and love for each other. Partners and best friends for 62 years are now back together again.
Joyce was a dedicated wife, mother, and granny, first and foremost. She treasured her time with her kids and grandkids. Joyce was an anchor and a compass for her family. She loved to love people and had a beautiful smile that would light up her face. It was magic when she smiled at you.
Joyce loved to paint, tend to her flowers, and go to garage sales. She could spot a garage sale sign a mile away. Joyce was a fabulous cook and kept an immaculate house. She was known for vacuuming expertise, and we all knew the vacuum might run any time of day!
Holidays were spent with family and friends, celebrating and eating delicious meals crafted with love. Joyce loved spending time with my dad sitting on the porch, watching the lake and chatting the day away. This is where they found peace and where we find them for conversation and good times.
Joyce leaves us with a lifetime of good memories, love, and we will miss her daily.
Her children will miss Joyce: Lura McCaslin, spouse Dennis; Gary Freeman, spouse Christyl; Mike Freeman, spouse Catherine; Ron Freeman, spouse Janis; six grandchildren, Jordan Thrash, Zachary Pendleton, Jessalyn Mayer, Audrey Freeman, Joseph Freeman, and Caroline Marta.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Freeman, her parents, Robert and Thelma Smith, and siblings, Lura Henninger and Buddy Smith.
