Born on March 20, 1950, in Perrysburg, Ohio, June was a daughter of the late Ray John Niggemyer and the late Beth Jeanne Hasson Niggemyer.
June and Dutch have been in my life since before birth and I spent summers at their lake house before I could talk, but still carrying a fishing pole in my diaper. June had such a spark and her energy was enthralling. June had such a heart for animals and rescued more than I can count. She also was involved with CASA as an advocate for children who entered the foster system. She was a voice for the voiceless for both children and animals and her heart was pure gold. She had a fire that burned inside that was unlike any other human I have ever met and she will be so deeply missed because she was so deeply loved. Dutch was assigned as my Godfather at birth and June became my self-proclaimed Godmother about 2 years ago as we became closer through her health challenges. She loved Dutch beyond any words, like no other, and in the end all she cared about were the ones she would be leaving behind as she knew exactly where she would be going. She was fearless and unapologetic and lived fully. She had a love of the Old Testament in the Bible and a wicked sense of humor that lightened even the heaviest passages of the law. Spending the last days with her was such a gift, sharing red velvet cake and most importantly Lactaid milk because lactose free was the only way to go. Despite her struggles, she never gave up or quit. She pushed through and just would say, "It is what it is." She knew when she was nearing her transition as she spoke about "making it quick" and "no point staying around and suffering." It gave great comfort that she was not scared and she said that to me on Monday the day before she passed. We know she can rest now and no more suffering and that we will all continue to love on each other as family and close friends in honor of her until we all meet again in heaven, with streets of gold and I imagine those long sparkly embellished gems promised in heaven that I imagine will be glistening on those long nails of hers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas.
