Lana Earleen (Grimes) Napper

Born on March 6, 1940, in Orange County, Indiana, Lana was a daughter of the late Elmer Earl Grimes and Maxine Elliott Grimes.

Lana loved God, Family and Country in that order. She was a very spiritual woman, attending various churches and religious functions during her lifetime. No one ever doubted her belief in God. She was a line leader for RCA in Bloomington Indiana when her husband at the time (Charles Bailey) decided he wanted to move the family to Texas in 1970. When they arrived, She promptly began employment with Western Electric in Mesquite, Texas. She eventually obtained her Associate degree in Mid-management while, working nights, going to school during the day and raising her family. When that marriage dissolved, she was introduced to James Napper and they married in 1979 and remained so until his death. She had become dissatisfied with the working conditions at AT&T (Western Electric). Jim convinced her to resign and pursue things that would make her happy. She set up her own bookkeeping and tax service, sold items at First Monday in Canton, and most importantly, spent time babysitting and spoiling her grandchildren. They moved to Mabank in 1984 and remained there until James passed and due to her health issues she moved in with her daughter until she was able to say goodbye to the people she loved the most and move on. After Jim retired, she decided she wanted to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She achieved this on February 1, 2003 and then quickly added 4 more ancestors linking her to the Revolutionary War. This was her proudest achievement. Her and James traveled to the 13 original colonies (States) gathering more information on our history. She became very involved with her chapter, meeting local leaders and teaching the Constitution to the school children. Lana's father died right before her sixth birthday. Being the oldest of four with a widowed mother, she didn't experience a worry free childhood. She began working at 13 in a local restaurant to take care of herself and her younger siblings. But boy did she make up for it when James retired. They traveled all over the United States and went to Disney World 4 times, taking various grandchildren with them. She led a full, wonderful life, with her family and best friend Jim (that was the answer she always gave on that security question). Come join us for a celebration of this lovely woman and soul.

Lana is survived by her children Brandi Bailey Napper Lehman and her husband, Tom Lehman, of Garland, Texas, and Brian Dean Bailey of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren: Kevin Napper, Chelsea Barnett and her husband, Andrew, Cassandra Napper, Jennifer Bailey, and Patrick Bailey; siblings: Saundra Rowland of Huntsville, Texas, John Grimes, and James Trinkle of Indiana.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 4 pm. at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
