Linda Ruth Ray

Linda Ruth Burnett Ray was born September 4, 1946 in Fort Smith, AR to the late Lloyd Dale Burnett and Wilma Maxine Cole Burnett, an insurance salesman/retired US Postal worker and seamstress. Linda passed at the age of 74 on October 17, 2020 in Athens, TX. Linda was a 1964 graduate of N Little Rock High School. Her first job was working for the Bureau of Vital Records that inspired her interest in Genealogy. On August 27, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jack Arther Ray in N Little Rock, AR. Linda worked as a data entry operator base hopping with Jack while he served in the USAF. She had several collections, including rocks, gemstones, stamps, currency, and over 350 mixers and beaters. As they traveled Europe, she translated with merchants in each country. Linda retired to Gun Barrel City 20 years ago after living in Fort Worth 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Angela Linette Walker.

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Jack Ray; 8 children, Vicki Harrison, Michele Ray (husband James “Andy” Anderson), Jacque Walker (husband Wayne), Clayton Ray (wife Ghie “Gina”), and Michael Bullock; 8 grandchildren, Dan “Tray” Wingo, III (wife Kirsten “Kiki”), Bryan Wingo, Taylor Anderson, Jessica Brown, Jack “JD” Walker, Ethan “EJ” Basbas, and Earl Ray, III; 4 great grandchildren, Johnathan “John” Wingo, Alexander “Alex” Wingo, Kyle Wingo, and Shelby Brown; 3 dogs, Sabrina, Toodles, and Toffee; 2 cats, Torrie and Twiggy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
