

Pete graduated from Cody High School in Detroit and completed an accounting degree at Walsh College (Detroit). Pete proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964. Pete worked as an accountant and hospital manager to hospitals in Detroit before embarking on a sailing adventure. He sailed with a friend across the Great Lakes, through the St. Lawrence Seaway, and down the eastern coast of the United States before landing in Kay Largo, FL. Pete began his 30 plus year IT Career installing medical software in hospitals while he was living in Ft. Lauderdale.
Pete married the love of his life, Dorothy Selman, in May, 1985. They lived in Marietta and Roswell, GA before returning to Texas in 1992. Pete and Dorothy shared over 40 years of life together during which they had many adventures. They traveled throughout much of the Continental United States. Whether taking a spur of the moment trip to Nashville, Savannah or Charleston or a planned trip to Las Vegas, Reno, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Branson, or the New England States, they always had a great time meandering through the countryside, eating at small restaurants to experience local cuisine.
Pete and Dorothy bought their retirement home on Cedar Creek Lake in 2000 and moved their full time in 2002. Pete completely remodeled the house to make it the home they loved. Pete is known to friends and family as a fisherman. He enjoyed fishing Lake Fork as well as Cedar Creek Lake. He fished 3 times a day most days. He loved sharing his fishing knowledge with new fishing buddies as well as children and grandchildren of neighbors.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Antoinette Wasunyk.
Pete is survived by his wife Dorothy, brother Jerry (Sharon) Wasunyk of Dearborn Heights, MI; sister Geraldine (Geri) Wasunyk of Brownstown Township, MI; niece, Kelly Shanks of Brownstown, MI ; nephew Mark (Cyndi) Wasunyk of Bolingbrook, IL; Amanda Wasunyk (Tyler) MacDonald of Dearborn, MI.; great nieces and nephew Jade, Hunter, and Kendall; and great nephew, Malcom.
