

Robert W. “Bob” Learned Sr. was born on April 27, 1929 in Walnut Grove Township, IL to parents Roy Learned and Anna Marie Taylor and entered into rest on November 10, 2015. Bob loved his family dearly and enjoyed serving others. He was a great story teller and loved writing poems and songs. Bob enjoyed listening to music and taking pictures with his Polaroid camera. He loved tinkering in his shop of treasures, whittling and travel. Bob served in The United States Navy and later went to locksmith school. He worked as an aviation metal smith. Bob was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rowlett. He was a very giving man; even until the end he was serving others. He would read to children, help seniors and people with special needs. Always helping others, no matter what was needed. Bob was known as a TV remote hog, no matter where he was. He could remember everyone’s name and spell it back to you. Bob was a wonderful man who will be tremendously missed by all who knew him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife of 62 years; Grace, son Dennis, one brother and numerous sisters.
He is survived by his son Robert William Learned Jr and wife Patricia of St. Louis, MO, daughter Judy Linn Hoyt and husband Richard of Rowlett, three sisters, grandchildren; Robert Learned III, Erin Bookout, Kristi Dickinson and Tiffany Parker, great-grandchildren; Chandler, Lilly, Kennedy, Tommy, William, Amelie, Desmond and Reid, very special friends Kerry and Theresa, Natalie and Jason McGee, other loving family members and many more friends.
