Ruth Lorraine Snyder was born on January 3rd 1928 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Clem and Agusta Caseman. Her dad was a Volunteer Fireman and had a barber shop on Main Street in Maumee, Ohio for over 50 years.
Ruth was an only child. In High School she was elected cheerleader, but her strict Catholic parents would not allow her to be one. Ruth found a way to sneak around and participate anyways, she was very strong willed. She was attending Nurse's training when she met and married Albert Lewis Gregory. Soon to follow was a daughter, Linda Lee and then a son Albert Lewis Gregory Jr. Al Gregory Sr. was co-founder and owner of Rogers Electric in Toledo, Ohio until his untimely death in 1961.
Ruth was strong willed and moved on with life. She was working in the admitting office at the hospital in Toledo when she met Richard B. Snyder. After their marriage, Richard was promoted and transferred to Station Manager for Fuller Brush Company in Dallas, Texas. Retirement came and they moved to their much loved waterfront property on the newly developed Cedar Creek Lake in Gun Barrel City, Texas.
Richard became ill and passed away in 1991. Again, Ruth found she had to be strong. She remained single and loved living around the lake community. She got involved with activities at the United Methodist Church in Mabank. She cherished her church family, her friends, and played a lot of "Joker".
Ruth was an avid quilter, she participated in the Prayer Blanket Program at church. If you were around her very often you surely were gifted one of her famous "SCRUBBIES". She was mowing her yard weekly at 89 years old until her son took the spark plugs out of the mower, he told her it could not be fixed. Ruth then decided it was time to down size and moved to as apartment at Silverleaf Senior Community in Chandler, Texas. Two years later, she moved to Atria Willow Park Independent Living in Tyler. She thrived there and made many new friends. After her 96th birthday she became ill and passed away on a Sunday, early morning February 4, 2024.
She is most recently preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Linda Lee Gregory Daniel.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Al and Karla Gregory; her son-in-law, Andre Daniel; her grandchildren, Michael Allen and Valerie; and great grandchildren, Allisa, Alex, Sophie, and Junior.
A Graveside Service will be held for Ruth February 17, 2024 at 1pm at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
