William Basil Prokop

William Basil “Bill” Prokop was born on January 15, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Fred Prokop and Sophia Drozda. Bill earned degrees in Physical Education and Health from the University of Toronto. He played hockey growing up, basketball in College, and was an enthusiastic sports fan. He loved horse racing, and he and his wife visited the major tracks in Toronto, California, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New York and Kentucky.

Bill married the love of his life, Wanda, on May 2, 1986, on the island of Hawaii. He will be dearly missed by her and all who knew and loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his father Fred Prokop, his mother Sophia Tymchuck and husband William of Etobicoke, Ontario, and his sister Elsie Sylvulick and husband Mike of Etobicoke.

Bill is survived by his wife Wanda Busby Prokop of Kemp, Texas, nieces Marian Quackenbush of Kingston, Ontario and Janette McKnight of Toronto, Ontario, one great-niece, two great-nephews, and other loving family members and friends.

Bill requested that he be cremated and his ashes interred at Oaklawn Cemetery of Mabank, Texas. Private services will be scheduled for a later date.
