Alice M. Scales

Alice Scales of Roscoe, IL passed away after a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease at her home surrounded by family. Alice was born on March 23, 1929, in Ellsworth, IA. She married Victor Scales on January 18, 1948. Alice was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was an avid sports fan cheering for the Hawkeyes, Bears, Cubs, Joe Montana, Eli Manning and any team her grandkids played on. She cherished camping with Vic and family, traveling to Iowa, and stopping at the casinos along the way. Alice’s greatest joy was hosting Christmas Eve dinner, sharing her Norwegian traditions, and spending time with family.

Alice is survived by children, Linda ( Wayne) Thurman, Dave (Maggie) Scales, William Scales, Danelle ( Scott) Leslie; grandchildren, Dean Johnson, Michelle Lindquist, Tim Scales, Tom (Justeen) Scales, Dan(Julie) Styers, James Styers, Alison(Dustin) Fuller, Jen(Adam) Bonjean; great- grandchildren, Seren, Katelyn, Ty, Megan, Josh, Ava, Talon, Caleb, Eli, Gary, Kayla, Alex, Tristan, Londyn and soon to be Ryann; great- great grandchildren, Paige and Eli; siblings, Janet(Arlo) Richardson, Joan Williams, Arnold(Charlene) Braland; sister-in-law Glenda Braland; numerous, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, Victor Scales; parents, Oscar ( Elizabeth) Braland; grandchildren, Janelle Eckland and Teresa Scofield; siblings, Mervin Braland, William Braland, Lois Luther; brother-in-law, Lyle Williams.

Funeral Services: 2:00 pm Friday, February 9, at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N Alpine Rd. Machesney Park,IL . Visitation: 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
