

Bill was born on August 2, 1933 in Decatur, AL., the son of Hubbard and Myrtle (Smith) Hogeland. He married Dolores Lindenberg on November 8, 1958 in Rockford. Bill was an Industrial Engineer in his early career and later became an auto mechanic because he truly loved to work on cars. He was a longtime member of the LLL Society, American Legion Post #1207 and Blackhawk Athletic Club. Bill was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his Harley trips to Sturgis and had a lifelong love of camping.
Bill is survived by his wife Dolores; children: Debbie Lockett (Bob Steiner), Shelley (Louie) D’Agnolo and Lisa (Doug) Entrikin; grandchildren: Brandon Fontana, Jake D’Agnolo, Griffin Entrikin and Dylan Entrikin; brother-in-law Dick (Pat) Lindenberg; sisters-in-law Joyce Hauser and Mary Ann (Rich) Kliman. He had many special friends, especially his dear friend Jess Carter.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Disabled Veterans Association.
Bill will always be remembered for his larger than life personality, his witty sayings and his love of people. He will be truly missed by many, but especially his family who loved him dearly.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 3:00 pm Monday June 27, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park with visitation from 2:00 pm until time of service. Military Honors will follow services.
