

Charles Leslie Harder, 97, of Durand formally of Rockford passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 28, 2020. Born May 17, 1923 in Wabasha, MN. Son of Charles W. and Helen B. (Engel) Harder. Veteran of the United States Navy having served During WWII aboard the USS New Jersey BB 62. United in marriage to Nancy Jean Carroll on February 14, 1952. Retired from Amerock Corporation after several years. Members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Charles found enjoyment in singing, dancing, going out to eat, having picnics and corn boils with the family, and together with Nancy they enjoyed traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, going on several cruises and going to Royal Palm RV Park in Big Pine Key, Florida for over 20 years.
Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy; children, Nanette (Dave) Leggett, Charles “Corky” (Carol) Harder, Leslie (Brad) Curtis, Brian (Susan) Harder; grandchildren, Shelia (Phillip) Hoffman, Matt (Amy) Allen, Dan Allen, Chuck (Karen) Harder, Jeremiah (Jay) Allen, Michael Curtis, Jennifer (Kevin) Black, Nicholas Curtis, Shanna Clankie, Ryan (Crystal Bigham) Clankie, Dana (fiancé Dan Kunkle) Harder, Brittany (JT) Price; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; siblings Theresa (Merle) Menos, Judy Johnson. Predeceased by his parents; sister, Betty Malson; infant son, Jack Harder; daughter, Jill (Mike) Clankie; great-grandson, Lucas Black.
Private Family Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 4 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Walk Thru Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service.
