

Charles “Chuck” Morton, 75, of Clermont, Florida and formerly of Rockford passed away June 10, 2011, in Palatka, FL. He was born March 18, 1936, in Rockford to Almon and Maude (Outcult) Morton. In 1955, he married Shirley Lee.
He was born and raised in Rockford and resided here until 26 years ago when he and his wife relocated to Florida. While in Rockford he worked as a steel worker for Rockford Drop Forge for 28 years and for Saws International for five years. While in Orlando he worked for Textron for 15 years before retiring. He enjoyed cracking jokes and was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Clermont; his son, Richard (Patricia) Morton of Orlando; his grandsons, Eric (Katie) Morton, Aaron Morton, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicholas Newman; his great-grandchildren, Mason Brock and Reed Morton; his sister, Juanita (the late Dick) Rungren of Rockford; his aunt, Adeline (the late John) Putzel of Rockford; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Lee Morton; his parents; his sisters, Shirley Morton and Margaret Downey; and his brother, Almon W. (Gloria) Morton.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2pm on Thursday, June 16, at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd. The service will be at 2pm.
Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
