

Curtis A. Robinson, 66, departed his earthly life Friday, May 31st at 2:45pm. Born July 5, 1952 to Phillip (Pete) and Thelma (Hanserd) Robinson in Rockford, IL. He attended Jefferson High School and had a very long career on the railroad working for BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad for a total of 40 plus years. He was married to the love of his life and best friend Sara (Dummer) Robinson, of this union was one child Rachel. Curtis had a love of sports since childhood and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He attended numerous games over the years, spending his retirement traveling to cheer on his beloved Cubbies. He was deeply committed to his recovery, attending meetings and showing support to others.
He was a phenomenal cook and you would often find him in the kitchen or on the grill. Curtis loved the outdoors and took pride in his amazing yard and garden.
Curtis leaves to cherish many loving memories; his daughter Rachel (Jones) Robinson-Bardoville; two grandsons Kentan and Jalen Robinson; five sisters and brothers Phyllis (Clayborn) Sockwell, Deborah Gulley, Luther Robinson Sr., Delores (Mike) Parker, and Coral Tidwell; father-in-law Robert Dummer; brother and sister-in-law Suzie (Dan) Young all of Rockford, IL and Robert (Cindy) of Florida, and Richard (Jody) Dummer of Michigan; and a host of nieces and nephews. His very good friend Eric Guenther.
Curtis is preceded in heavenly departure by his loving wife Sara, mother Thelma, father Phillip, his two sisters Helen Saffold and Loretta Robinson.
Special acknowledgement to nephew Phillip Terrel Robinson and niece Tonya Wallace for their care and support. The family would like to thank Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Serenity Hospice for their care.
Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Friday June 7th at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 9 a.m. until time of service.
