Dale M. Brierton, 83, of Rockford passed away into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday May 7, 2022. Dale was born in Sublette, IL on August 6, 1938 to Melvin Richard and Thelma (Richman) Brierton. He graduated from Franklin Grove High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he was stationed on the USS Shasta and was honorably discharged in 1959.
Dale in his lifetime has met many people and made many loving friends. Having worked at Rockford Products as a machinist, then as a bus driver for Rockford Public School District for 13 years from which he has loving memories of “his” school kids. He worked at Cornerstone Clinic as a greeter and guide, a retirement job he really enjoyed. Dale was genuine and a loving husband, father, brother and grandpa who loved all kinds of people and was interested in their stories. He has such a special sense of humor which made him so beloved to all who knew him. He cherished Maywood Evangelical Free Church and considered the Pastors and members such special friends. He especially enjoyed Tuesday morning Men’s Bible Study and Small Group on Sunday evening, all of whom were very special to him and Sharon.
He cherished and loved with all his heart his beloved wife Sharon, together for 61 years; daughter: Lori Ennis; son: John (Debi) Brierton; grandchildren: Robert Ennis and Zachary Brierton; step-grandchildren: Shane and Ryan Buss; step-great-grandchildren: Adelyn, Avery and Karson; brothers: Bill (Reva) Brierton and Gary (Wanda) Brierton; many loving nieces and nephews also survive.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Thelma; son Mark and his wife Kris Brierton; son-in-law Mike Ennis; nephews Jeff Roop and Michael McMillion.
Memorial donations will go to Rockford Rescue Mission.
