Darla Jean Pilcher-Thompson

Darla was born on November 17, 1966 in Rockford, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Davis) Pilcher. She married Gregory Thompson on July 20, 1985 in Machesney Park. Darla received her Master of Management Degree and was a Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR). Darla was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Society. Darla was a passionate artist, a loyal Chicago Bears fan; she was accomplished, smart and full of life.

Darla is survived by her husband Gregory; son Steven (Melissa) Thompson and granddaughter Emery Catherine Darla Thompson; daughter Chelsea Dyan Thompson; parents Bob Sr. (Barbara) Pilcher; sisters Robbin (Rick) Snodgrass and Sherri Nelson; brother Bob Jr. (Mary Beth) Pilcher; father and mother-in-law Porter (Betty) Thompson; sisters-in-law Angela Larson and Lyn (Abe) Harris; brothers-in-law Curtis (Susan) Thompson and David Thompson; several nieces, nephews and great niece and great nephew.

Darla was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Family requests that you wear yellow in memory of Darla to the visitation and funeral.

A service to celebrate Darla’s life will be 3:00 pm Friday May 20, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park. Visitation for Darla will be Thursday May 19, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home and on Friday from 2:00 pm until service time.
