David Bowers

David Robert Bowers, 63, of Rockford, IL. courageously surrendered to cancer on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Son, father, brother and friend all were enriched in sharing in David’s life. In a life well celebrated, David enjoyed the tranquility of the golf course, the warmth of the baking sun, the companionship of a fishing pole, the rewards of his bountiful vegetable garden especially his corn and the taste of a well grilled steak.

Born August 20, 1953 in Rockford, IL. to Robert and Violet (Lundberg) Bowers. David worked as a manager\dispatcher\truck driver for several companies; Briggs, Emery Air, Trout Trucking and lastly at Napeltons Auto Werks in Rockford.

Survivors: mother, Violet; children, Matthew (Sara) Bowers, Shannon (Mark) Hensel; sisters, Barbara Roberts, Betty (David) Watson, Deborah (Michael) Sutton; step-sister, Janis (Ron) Nemitz; step-brother, Michael (Kim) Spehar; grandchildren, Kayla, Jenna, Matthew, Elijah Bowers and Tyler Hensel; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father, Robert Bowers.
