

passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 27 with his family by
his side. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Aline Bourg Duke and
his four children: Joseph Wright, Robert Wright, Zelina Brewer, and
Keith Wright. He had eight grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren.
David was born on February 4, 1945 in the town of Beaconsfield in
Buckinghamshire, England to his father Arthur Cleveland Duke (born in
Atlanta, Texas) and mother Betty Williams Duke (born in Glamorgan,
Wales). David came to the United States as a young child and was
raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota with his siblings Griff, Timothy, Mary
Ann, and Jim. After serving in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator
from 1963-1967, David moved to Houma where he met his wife, Aline.
They were married in 1973.
After twenty years of working offshore for McDermott, David then
worked for the Terrebonne Parish Sherriff’s Department as a courthouse
bailiff. Once retired, David devoted his time to veterans’
organizations and was the Post Commander for the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 3700 in Houma and held the position of Adjutant of the
Kenneth C. Boudreaux American Legion Post 380 in Chauvin. His service
to these organizations meant a great deal to him and to others
involved. He was loved by all who knew him, and he will be forever
missed.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at a later date. Services were entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL. Online condolences may be submitted at sunsetfhmemgardens.com
