Dixie Rae Rossol passed away on March 29th. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family. She will be deeply missed and we are sad to see her go. However, we find comfort in knowing that her body has been restored and she has been made whole by her Heavenly Father. Born on February 21st,1942, she called Rockford her home for her whole life. Dixie married the love of her life Berthold Rossol on September 2nd, 1960. They grew deeper in love with every passing year and enjoyed sixty-two years of a marriage full of love and selfless commitment. They were blessed with three children, Lori, Julie and Michael. Dixie always thought of others before herself. She worked as a daycare provider in her home for over thirty years. She always had time for family, friends or anyone in need and enjoyed opening her home for fellowship around the kitchen table. Dixie is survived by her husband Berthold, two children Lori (Gene) Harnisch and Michael (Jennifer) Rossol, as well as numerous grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Julie (Maynard) Martin, mother Marilyn Smith and four brothers and sisters. Services will be held at North Love Baptist Church on Tuesday April 4th. Visitation will be from 10-11am immediately followed by a memorial service and interment at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Garden. A reception will be held back at the church immediately following the internment.
