

Don was born on May 11, 1929 in Carpentersville, IL to Earnest and Hilda Schultz. After graduating from Dundee High School in 1947, he went on to serve in the Korean War from 1950—52. where he was decorated with the Army Occupation medal. In 1955, he graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and in the 1970’s extended his education at the University of Chicago with an MBA. He retired in 1986, after a 30-year career in corporate finance.
In 1950, he married Doris Vivian Wilkinson, and the couple went on to have 4 children (Michael, Jeffrey, Gregg, and Sheri), 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Don was a strong believer in Christ and served as church treasurer at St. Paul’s church in Elgin, IL and later at Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL. A collector of mallard decoy ducks, a birder, and an enthusiastic gardener—he loved to talk about God’s creation and contemplate the joys that would await him in heaven.
Don was predeceased by his wife Doris (July 20, 1987), and survived by his 4 children.
A private family service will be held in the new year (DTBD), and as per Don’s request, his remains will be buried with his wife Doris.
