Doris Shuck, 96, of Rockford, IL passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was born November 4, 1929 in Sterling, IL, the daughter of Jacob E. and Eva (Wiebenga) Engelkens. Doris graduated from Milledgeville High School and went on to Rockford School of Business Secretarial School. Doris married the love of her life, Fred A. Shuck on November 24, 1950. She was Secretary to the Dean of Faculty at NIU and then Personnel Manager for Kmart for 12 years until her retirement in 1984. Doris loved knitting, playing cards, and camping. She and Fred spent winters in Arizona until finally making it their permanent home for many years.
Doris is loved and missed by her children, Linda (Anthony) Molitor, Randal (Mona) Shuck, Elaine Pittman, and Bradley (Mary) Shuck; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons; brother, Allen Engelkens. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Margaret Anspach.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with Rev. Robert Kopp officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or Compassion Closet Food Bank at Our Family of Faith.
