Edith June Findley

Edith June Findley, 89, of Rockford passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. Born June 29, 1927 in Gary, IN. She was one of eight to Everett and Phebe (Clasen) Pinner. Married Donald William Findley on May 25, 1945 in Indiana. He predeceased her on July 19, 1996. Moved to Rockford in 1958. Employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone company for 29 years. Edith was a long time member of the Arbor Day Tree Foundation. Along with having trees she had a great love of her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by her children, Michael (Rosie) Findley, Richard (Linda) Findley, Evie (David) Showers, Jeff (Karen) Findley; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Dawn (Jerry) Lohrey, Madeline (Gerry) Rosenboom, Rodney (Beverly) Spencer. Predeceased by her parents; spouse; sons, Patrick (Sandy) and Carl (Joy); siblings, Anna Milligan, Elmer Pinner, Elizabeth Eberhart, Archibald Truett.

Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 31 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 1 p.m. until time of service. Pastor Charles Waggoner will be officiating. Burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens. To share a condolence visit www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com
