

Edward E. Garner, 85 of Machesney Park passed away at home with his family by his side on April 28, 2019. He was born in Harrison IL on August 1, 1933 to Mary and Chester Garner. Edward is remembered as being the caretaker of his family, a regular jokster, and a hard-working man. On September 21, 1956 Edward was united in marriage to the love of his life Barbara. They shared 4 children and 62 years of marriage together. Edward spent his early days as a farmer, he served in the United States Army, as well as spent some time working for Mechanics of Rockford. Edward found enjoyment in fishing and camping, and playing cards with his family. He was a “stuff collector” and an avid poker player. The children in his life will remember his teasing and how he would keep a smile on the faces of those around him.
Edward is survived by his children, Teresa (Javier) Ramirez, Michael (Astrid) Garner, Brian (Michelle) Garner, Timothy (Tina Lonas) Garner; grandchildren, Stephanie Garner, Nathan Ramirez, James Garner, Raquel Ramirez, Sascha Olschewski, Keith (Sarah) Garner, Steven (Donna) Garner, Ericka Garner, Haley Garner, Jessica Garner, Hannah Garner, Caitlin Lonas; 18 great-grandchildren; his brother, Franklin Garner; and his sisters, Dorthea Hockison and Norma Hinrichs.
He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Garner; his parents, Mary and Chester Garner, and numerous siblings.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for both Edward and Barbara will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
