

Edward Ernest Johnson, 86, of Rockford, passed away peacefully at home on Monday September 19, 2016. Born on March 4, 1930 in Rockford, IL the son of Vincent and Leone (Coonrad) Johnson. Veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War. Married Barbara L. Thompson on May 18, 1952. Edward worked in the Fastener Manufacturing industry as a personnel plant manager. Together with his wife Barbara they enjoyed camping with their friends the O’Dells. He was an avid bowler having even been inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis.
Favorite pastimes were watching Nascar, golfing, boating and playing country music on steel guitars. Avid fan of his nephew’s racing when he was at the Rockford Speedway even being part of the pit crew. Even though Edward and Barbara had no children together they had many friends whose children they would proudly cheer on at all their school events. Edward gave his all and always gave a 110%. Lovely called the “Record Setter’ he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife Barbara; several special nieces and nephews; sister, Leatrice Schorer; several special friends. Predeceased by parents; siblings, Richard Johnson, Gloria Hendrick, Thomas Johnson, Steve Johnson. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday September 22 at Sunset
