Edward D Logeson, 42, of Rockford, finished his hard fought battle with cancer on Mon. Sept. 7, 2015, surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Rockford on Jan. 7, 1973, Ed faced health challenges from early childhood and in his quiet and determined manner, grew into a man of incredible strength and athleticism. Ed was an adventurer touring the Midwest and western states on motorcycle, climbing rocks and mountains and fishing commercially in Alaska. He was an avid bicyclist, once completing over 1,000 miles in 10 days. He shared his love of cycling by establishing the Jane Addams Bike Clinic which provided refurbished bikes and repair lessons to children in need. Ed loved the outdoors and held a great respect and knowledge for all things in nature. He was a musician, both performer and writer, starting as a child in the Kantorie Boys Choir and most recently with the band Uneven Earth. When a child or friend expressed an interest in music, Ed provided an instrument and taught them to play. He was an accomplished woodworking craftsman. Not a man of many words, his mere presence was calming to those who were troubled, his sense of humor bringing laughter that replaced sorrow or anger. Ed's generosity, kindness, loyalty and fairness were inspirational. He taught us how to live and he taught us how to die. Survived by his mother, Myrna Pullin; father and step mother Roger and Martha Logeson; sisters, Cathy(Mike) Butler, Laura(Carlos) Molina and Jen(Bill) Myers; brothers, Eric(Inna) Pullin, Mark(Tamara) Adams, Jon Adams and Aaron(Kim) Adams; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; his loyal furred friend Coda and a host of friends, too many to name. Predeceased by his grandparents and step father, Paul Pullin.
Funeral service at 1pm Sunday, Sept 13, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. A memorial picnic will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family will be used to establish and maintain teaching gardens for the children of Rockford or to the Rock River Valley Pantry.
