Guadalupe G. Castro

Guadalupe G. Castro, 75, of Machesney Park, passed away November 2, 2014 in Laredo, TX. Born December 22, 1938 in Cotulla, TX; she was the daughter of Seledonio and Florencia (Salas) Gonzalez. She married Robert C. Castro on June 30, 1956 in Delavan, WI.

A member of St. Bridget Catholic Church for 51 years, she was formerly employed with Admiral Electronics and Fenner Stone; retiring in 1984.

Guadalupe was a loving wife and mother, a great cook, who enjoyed sewing, dancing, listening to music, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and cheering on the Cubs.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert C. Castro; children, Robert (Julie) Castro Jr., Joe (Janice) Castro, Brenda Castro, and Rebecca (Tim) Brekke; grandchildren, Mary, Juan, Jessica, Austin, Miraynda, and Lauren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Andrea Martinez, Juana Pena, Malena Rodriguez, Lupe Vasquez, Oscar Vasquez, Cuco Vasquez, Pilo Benavides, Tina Soto, and Lola Mahoney; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Ramon Benavides.

Funeral mass, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 8th, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 600 Clifford Avenue, Loves Park; Father Keith Romke officiating.
