Gwendolyn "Gege" Lemke, age 89, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024. She was born June 1, 1935 in Stockton, Illinois to Elva and Charles Lower. Gwen married the love of her life, Roland Lemke on December 5, 1979 and they spent 24 wonderful years together before he passed in 2004.
Gwen enjoyed golfing, she was a member of the Rockford Women’s Golf Association. She was also a member on a few bowling leagues. Gwen enjoyed watching her favorite Chicago sports teams, the Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. She spent her winters in sunny Florida. Most of all, Gwendolyn enjoyed spending time with her family.
Gwendolyn is survived by her children, Connie (Scott) Jeffrey, Jody (Mike Malavolti) Brostom; grandchildren, Ryan (Melani) Jeffrey, Kristen (Mike) Riffle, and Tyler (Ashley Brunke) Brostrom; great-grandchildren, Ryan Russell, Miles Jeffrey, Macie Riffle, Molly Weaver, and Warren Riffle; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Lemke; parents, Elva and Charles Lower; and siblings, Calvin, Evelyn, Chuck, Buford, Donnie, Pauline, Kenny, and Pat.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Employee Gift Fund at Fairhaven.
A visitation for Gwendolyn will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM.
Gwendolyn will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115-2277.
