

Homer R. Greenwood, 83, of Dixon, IL, formerly of Franklin Grove, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. He was born September 14, 1941 in Prophetstown, IL, the son of Clem and Golda (Harmon) Greenwood. Homer graduated from Franklin Center High School, class of 1959, and went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corp. He was employed at Chrysler Corporation for 31 years. Homer married the love of his life, Barbie Milbrandt, on October 5, 1991 in Rockford. He was a member of the UAW. He and Barbie enjoyed playing pool at the Franklin Street Pub. Homer liked mowing the lawn, gardening and grilling. He loved making popcorn. Homer was known for his love of drinking a cold PBR. Most of all, he adored spending time with his family.
Homer is loved and missed by his loving wife, Barbie; children, Stephen Greenwood, Bonnie (Lisa Nyen) Greenwood, Christopher (Lance Mitchell) Greenwood, Matthew (Shelley) Greenwood, Denise (Mike) Hysmith, Dennis "Butch" (Corrina) Milbrandt and Erin June; grandchildren, Colby, Shanda, Kaitlund, Cody, Michael, Dominic, Mason, Riley and Austin; great-grandchildren, Vivian, Colson and Lennox; siblings, Clem "Lee" (Marilyn) Greenwood, Gary (Rose) Greenwood, Alice Greenwood and Neal Greenwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Larry June.
