James R. Hillenburg, 80, of Machesney Park passed away on Wednesday June 26, 2013 at his home with his wife and family by his side. This is fitting for a man that was an extremely devoted family man.
James was born on December 6, 1932 in Powhatan, AR, the son of Clarence and Gertrude Davis Hillenburg
Before moving to Illinois Jim served honorably in the United States Army. After his discharge Jim moved to Illinois and started his career at Purity Bakery. He spent thirty five years in the bakers union. After his retirement he spent another 17 years working for Logli Supermarket.
He married Iva B.Lebo on March 29, 1958. After marrying Iva, they started a family. They were blessed with four children, five grandkids, and three great grandkids.
Jim’s passion was in his family. There could have been no better father, husband, or grandfather. He loved to attend everything and anything that was associated with his family. He spent countless hours at sporting events, plays, and family gatherings.
Lastly Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved all kinds of sports. His pro teams were any team from Chicago. Except for his crazy love for the St Louis Cardinals. And of course any team his kids, grandkids, or great grandkids played on.
Jim will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
