James Watson, 74, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 25, 1947 in Florence, AL, the son of Milton and Edith (Faulkner) Watson. James married his soulmate, Glenda Hicks, on November 17, 1984. He was employed as a machinist for many years, retiring from Specialty Screw. James enjoyed bowling, which is where he and Glenda met. He loved going fishing and racing at the Rockford Speedway. James was the most comfortable at home and spending time with his family.
James is loved and missed by his wife, Glenda; son, Jeff Watson; bonus daughter, Amanda Dabson; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jr., Jeremy, Jazmin, Jodeci, Lamar and Morgan; siblings, Ronald, Don, Terry and Janie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Dawn Watson, and siblings, Iva and Jimmie.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at the funeral home. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
