Janet Evelyn (Holm) Rainwater

Janet Evelyn (Holm) Rainwater, 94, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Tuesday afternoon, March 24, 2026. She was born January 26, 1932 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Fred W. and Ruth (Sjedin) Holm. Janet graduated from East High School, class of 1949. She married her sweetheart, Thomas H. "Joker" Rainwater, in 1949. Janet was a loving wife and mother of three sons. She enjoyed singing and dancing. Janet loved cooking and collecting cookbooks. She liked gardening and tending to her flowers. Janet enjoyed going to garage sales and finding treasures. Most of all, Janet adored her family and loved spending time with them.

Janet is loved and missed by her children, Ronald (Marilyn) Rainwater and Randy (Nancy) Rainwater; grandchildren, Heather (Ricky) Gomez, Michelle (James) Horsley and Ronnie Rainwater; and great-grandchildren, Joseph (Caitlyn) Macias, Olivia Gomez, Ashley Rainwater, Reilly Rainwater, River Rainwater and Nathaniel Horsley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas "Joker", son Roger Rainwater, and sister Margaret Picchi.

A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
