Janice E. Leitz

Janice E. Leitz, 84, of Rockford, IL passed away on June 18, 2024. She was born in Rockford, IL on November 1, 1939 to Joseph and Marian Lyford. She grew up on her family farm, cultivating a love of gardening, birdwatching, baking, and most importantly, her family. She was a caretaker for many years, first with her children, Danny and Garry, then her mother, and finally her husband Doug. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Beloit, WI, where she met and married Doug in 1982. She will be remembered as a kind, generous, caring woman, often funny without trying and quick to share her love with everyone around her. Her memory will be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Janice is survived by her sons, Danny (Kimberly) Sarver & Garry Sarver; grandchildren Tyler Sarver, Taylor (Jack) Sarver, Chase Sarver & Alex Sarver; siblings Joanne Reid, David (Judy) Lyford & Laura (Gary) Hubbard; nieces and nephews John, Kathy, Mary, Barb, Brad, Christine & Andrea; as well as many beloved extended family members. Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Leitz; parents, Joseph & Marian Lyford; and brother-in-law Wilbur Reid

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 26 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115.
