Janice J. McDonald, 89, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on May 30, 2021. Janice was born in Rock Falls, Illinois on November 3, 1931 to Francis and Wilma Clapper. Janice attended East High in Rockford. After high school Janice worked at National Lock, Prior Foods, and Rockford Products before opening up her own stores, Jan’s Furniture. On August 30, 1948 Janice married the love of her life, Darold McDonald. Janice owned and operated her furniture stores for 25 years before retiring. Janice enjoyed bowling, bingo and going to auctions but there was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her sons, Randy (late Linda) McDonald, Stan (Jane) McDonald, and Chris (Benita) McDonald; grandchildren, Scott, Lisa, Brian (Laura), Julie, Shannon, Sean, Paula, David, Jim, and Darold; great grandchild, Jack; sisters, Donna Johnson and Victoria Ashton. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darold McDonald; siblings, Sharon Osmus and Les Clapper.
Services will be private at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
