Joan Horton

Joan Horton passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2010 at Fairhaven Nursing Home. Born in Moline, IL in 1933, she spent most of her life in Rockford, attended Roosevelt Jr. High and West High School (class of ’51), and graduating from Rock Valley College. She is survived by four loving children, Randy (Melanie) Worden of Rockford, Sandy (Dick Hollenbaugh) Worden of AZ, Susan (Stan) Emery of Rockford and John (Maria) Worden of WI, five grandchildren, Chris Worden, Michele (Dave) Lessard, Jeff Worden, Laura Trotter and John Trotter, four great grandchildren, Jake Trotter, Breanne Lessard, Shae Lessard and Braeden Leftwich, one brother John (Sandy) Weber of AZ and sister, Karen (Mike) Schmitt of AZ. Predeceased by her parents Martin and Iretta Weber. She will be remembered for her many activities, including Cub and Girl Scout leader, PTA, Toastmaster, and Kids Club at church, as well as her years working as a secretary at Sundstrand Aviation and Centennial Methodist Church. Some of her greatest joys besides time spent with her family and friends were her love of books, travel, and crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
