

John G. Lichtenberg, 76, of Rockford passed away peacefully in his home with his wife by his side. Born January 9, 1941 in Beloit, WI to John and Marian (Rasmussen) Lichtenberg. Graduate of Beloit Memorial High School in 1958. Veteran of the United States Marines. Married Dixie Aultman on July 16, 1976. He was employed by the United Parcel Service having retired 19 years ago. He was a kind and caring man who always thought of others before himself. His family meant everything to him. He liked to travel, go to casinos, enjoyed reading and watching sports of any kind.
He is survived by his wife, Dixie; sons, Scott (Carol Ann), Jim (Cheryl), Gary (Sandra); daughters, Annette Hernandez and Joanne Davis; grandchildren, Jenny Aultman, Kenneth Aultman, Ian (Veronica Davis), Stephanie Aultman, Tom Aultman, Amanda (Ross) Moorman, Zachery Aultman, Deanna (Jeremy) South, Nathan Aultman, Alyssa Hernandez, Genie (Danny) Sparks; great-grandchildren, Audrey Aultman, Allie Moorman, Autumn Aultman, Gorja Moorman, Everett Sparks, Ruby Aultman; sister, Joyce Damman; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; grandchildren, Tyler Aultman and Christopher Aultman; brother, Jim Lichtenberg. He will be badly missed by his family. Family would like to thank OSF Hospice for their loving care of John.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 14 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 9 a.m. until time of service.
