John M. Micho

John M. Micho, 63, of Rockford, IL, went to be with the Lord peacefully, Thursday, July 31, 2025 surrounded by his loving family after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. John was the youngest of eight children born to Steve and Mayme (Berg) Micho. Born July 21, 1962 in Syracuse, New York. John and his three older siblings moved to Rockford with his parents in 1971. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1980, with some continuing education at Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University. John was a hard and dedicated worker. He worked for 25 years at Eagle Foods; he owned his own business "Absolute Audio" and then worked as a machine mechanic at Silgan Containers Company (Rochelle, IL) for 22 years.

John loved his family, had a passion for music, and love of antiques and old movies.

John was a quiet, generous but selfless man who was willing to help anyone when needed.

John was predeceased by in death by his parents.

John is survived by his older siblings, Robert (Cynthia) of Syracuse, NY, David (Sharon Barnello) of LaFayette, NY, Judy (Dr. Patrick) Hayes of Homer, NY, Diane (Christopher) Pecht of Kirkville, NY, James (Janet Carlson) of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Beth (Stanton) Melton of Cherry Valley, IL and Dr. Joseph (Sindy) Micho of Loves Park, IL. In addition, John was blessed with 18 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A sincere thank you to the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice and UW Carbone Cancer Center. A special thank you to the hospice staff, Tonya, Stacy, Alexis, and Meryll for their support of John and his family during his final journey.

A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice.
