Joyce Ann Blocker Meton went home to Jesus on May 3, 2025, at age 73. Joyce was born to Russell and Wanda Blocker on May 18, 1951, in St. Louis, MO. As a child, Joyce loved to hang out with her friends on her front porch, listening to records and spent many summers helping her dad with odd projects. This is also when her lifelong passion for caring for animals began. Joyce met Michael in 1973 at Elco Industries in Rockford, IL. They married on Dec 7, 1974, and raised two children. Prior to Michael’s passing in 2020, they spent much of their time traveling the country on their Harley Davidson attending poker runs and charitable events. They made lots of memories while on their adventures and gave back to many communities when given the opportunity. Joyce had a successful career as a bus driver for 30 years in both Illinois and Texas. She also continued her passion of caring for animals and was known to have 20 or more stray cats she cared for at one time, as well as several raccoons, vultures and squirrels. Joyce is survived by her son Nick Douglee (Tanya) Meton of West Des Moines, IA and Nawatha Michelle (Brian) Harrington of Humble, TX. She was also a grandmother to four grandkids Kayde, Ridik, Haven and Hazel as well as a great- grandmother to Rowan and Marlowe. Joyce is also survived by her brothers Wayne (Peggy) Blocker of Rockford, IL, Bill (Janet) Blocker of Harrisburg, IL and Gary (Caroline) Blocker of Pahrump, NV and countless nieces and nephews. She was reunited in Heaven with her husband, Michael, as well as her parents, siblings and several pets. A private graveside service is planned for a later date at Sunset Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider volunteering or making charitable contributions to your local animal shelters in honor of Joyce.
