Joyce Carol Thresher, 84 of Rockford passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. She was born in Seward N.Y. on September 22, 1939, to Walter & Ella Terpenning. In 1957 she met the man of her dreams, James Thresher, and they married shortly thereafter. To this union came two children; Michael Thresher and Cynthia Drummond, who were loved dearly and loved unconditionally!
Joyce spent the majority of her career as a secretary working at Harlem Board of Ed. and also Rock Cut School. She especially loved her time as a grade school secretary until she retired.
She loved boating, antiquing, gardening, dogs, slot machines, dancing and socializing at various clubs throughout the years such as the American Legion and Lombardi Club.
Joyce was a beautiful person inside and out, she was fun, kind, and had a great sense of humor, and a smile that would light up a room! Her children will miss her deeply.
Joyce leaves behind her son, Mike (Sharon) Thresher, and her daughter, Cindy (Steve) Drummond plus her grandchildren, Dustin Tuttle, Lindsey Tuttle and Garret (Kelsey)Thresher. In addition, her three great grandchildren, Samantha Metz, Ella Gilpin and Graham Thresher and her brother Walt (Lorraine) Terpenning, plus many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Thresher, her parents Walter and Ella Terpenning, and many of her beloved in-laws.
Though Joyce will leave an incredible void in our lives, we are happy her suffering is over. She has gone to dance freely on the streets of heaven!
Joyce requested a private ceremony with her immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s or Heart foundations.
A special thank you for all the wonderful staff at Grand Victorian, who helped, encouraged and loved our Mom. You have a special place in our hearts!
R.I.P. Until we meet again.
