Judy Kay Carten

Judy K. Carten, 61, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday morning, August 7, 2019 at Alden Debes following a lingering illness. She was born January 18, 1958 in Rockford, the daughter of Thomas and Julia (Mitchell) Carten. Judy worked at Meals on Wheels for 14 years. She loved the color red and decorated her home in an apple theme. Most of all, Judy loved animals, especially her cat, Tiny.

Judy is loved and missed by her son, Tim (Katie) Carten; grandchildren, Tori and Jess; one great-grandchild, Amelia; sisters, Dorothy Brommerich, and Donna (Ronald) Pearson; brother-in-law, Bill Lewis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice Metzger, Mary Lewis, and brother-in-law, Ernie Brommerich.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
