Karen Jones

Karen I. Jones, 71, of Loves Park, IL passed away on March 27, 2022. She was born in Rockford, IL on August 23, 1950 to Everette and Elma (Gitchell) Recoy. Karen attended Rockford schools all of her life. She married Jimmy Jones on July 14, 1972 and together they raised two wonderful children. Karen was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, watching TV, cooking and gardening. When it was nice out she enjoyed going for walks and bird watching. Karen had a generous heart and donated to lots of organizations. She enjoyed being around people with family gatherings being her favorite. Karen even enjoyed when her furry friend Mya would come over for visits. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Karen is survived by her husband, Jimmy; her children, David Jones and Sara Jones; her brothers, Robert (Marsha) Recoy, Larry (Elaine) Recoy and Danny Recoy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Adam Jones; and her sister, Norma Recoy.

Funeral Service for Karen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd., Machesney Park, IL 61115. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. until start of service. Cremation rights will be accorded and Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Karen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
