Kathleen D. Akers

Kathleen D. “Kathy” Akers, 52, of Rockford, IL passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon August 19, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 24, 1967 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Rowland and Helen (Ohneck) Akers. Kathy enjoyed doing crafts and coloring.

Kathy is loved and missed by her sisters, Mary (Rodney) Schultz, Linda (Douglas) Olmstead, Ruth A. (Michael) Jackson and Carol Henderson; nieces and nephews, Christine (Tim) Chapel, Jason (Nancy) Schultz, Erik (Nattia Trout) Brinkley, Michael Olmstead, Michelle (Chris Schultz) Burkhamer, Patricia (Eric Morgan) Burkhamer, and Kiya Henderson; step-nieces and nephews, Brandy (Cory) Hendricks, Spring Gonzalez, and Dustin Olmstead; great-nieces and nephews, Grayson and Evan Schultz, Candace, Aiden and Shaylen Brinkley, Tonica Maney, Paris (Avery Salberg) Burkhamer, and Michael Eash; step-great nieces and nephews, Brenin, Mya, Addison, A.J., and Carter; great-great nephews, Jackson Hobson and Asher Salberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Akers, and boyfriend, Byron Manley.

Private funeral services will take place. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stepping Stones, Rockford or Lung Cancer Association of America.
