Kathleen A. Warren nee Rauscher, 79, of Loves Park, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in UW Madison after a courageous 14 month battle with brain cancer. Kate began her journey through this life on December 31, 1945; Eldest of three siblings Joan (Steve) Kehe, Linda (Jim) Kehe, and John (Mary) Rauscher; Loving mother to Patti (Danny) McKibben, David (Ofelia) Lee, and Julie (Scott) Kalis; Grandmother of 10: Kyle, Brittney, Zelina, Jacob, Alex, Cassi, Raina, Connor, Brayden and Logan, and great-grandmother to 5 granddaughters: Karson, Sutton, Maeby, Gianna, and Georgia. Blessed and socially active, Kate spent as much time as possible with her loving companion Larry Kessling, spending time with their friends and enjoying one of her favorite pastimes, karaoke.
Kate was employed at First Card in Elgin, Belvedere Co., and The Keenage Center in Belvidere until she retired. Sitting still was not one of Kate’s strongest suits, and she eventually came out of retirement and worked as a Visiting Angel. Kate lived life to its fullest. She enjoyed painting, book clubs, her many friends she accumulated along the way and especially her Karaoke group. Kate’s go to song was “imagine” by John Lennon. Kate will be welcomed to Heaven by those who passed before her: Parents Joseph and Charlotte, Husband Ronald Warren, and faithful and loving friend Jim Hastings.
Special thanks go out to Dr. Esfahani and his P.A. Kristin, Dr. Speight and her P.A. Carly and the rest of the staff at the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center. Dr Sanchez-Gomez from UW Health in Belvidere, Dr. Dey from UW Madison and the nursing staff on the D4 unit who were so caring over the last couple of weeks. A very special and heartfelt thank you to Larry Kessling who was there whenever Kate needed anything no matter what hour of the day. Kate followed and cemented her Faith in God at Unity Church of Rockford where she served as a board member before her illness. Despite the challenges she was facing, Kate continued to believe and welcomed her “Unity” with the Lord.
The family invites you to celebrate Kate’s life On Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Keen Age Center, 2141 Henry Luckow Lane, Belvidere, IL 61008.
