Kenneth R Lindenmier, age 87, of Rockford, Illinois passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1938 in La Salle, Illinois to Melvin and Elizabeth (Souvitski) Lindenmier. Ken served in the Navy in 1956. He married the love of his life, Jeanette Lindenmier on July 19, 1961. He was a member of the Freemasons, Star in the East Lodge 166.
Ken loved planes, he earned his private pilot’s license in 1962 and kept flying until he no longer could. He even built his own experimental aircraft, which led to him being able to work on a Warthog aircraft when the air show in town had some difficulty. He enjoyed RC aircraft and boats as well. Ken liked clay target shooting.
Ken is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeanette Lindenmier; children, Deb McNally and Pam (Craig) Connell; granddaughter, Amanda McNally; sister, Patricia; grand-dogs, Keia and Cupcake; and great-grand-dog, Snickers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elizabeth Lindenmier; siblings, Gilbert (Wilma) Lindenmier, Gerald (Debra) Lindenmier, and Robert (Cynthia) Lindenmier; mother-in-law, Eloise Baker; and sister-in-law, Diane Baker-Lockwood.
A service for Ken will be held on Monday, April 27 at 2:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, Illinois, 61115 with military honors and entombment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
