Kenneth W. "Ken" Lyons, 86, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, November 29, 2024 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's. He was born January 4, 1938 in Belvidere, IL, the son of Harry and Olga (Lewis) Lyons. Ken graduated from Harlem High School. He married the love of his life, Lois Strang on July 23, 1960 in Rockford. Ken was a member of the Eagle's Club, SMSF Club and the Baltic Lodge. He was employed by Sundstrand for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. Ken enjoyed restoring furniture. He loved gambling and playing slot machines. Ken liked spending time in and maintaining his yard. He and Lois traveled all over the United States. Most of all, Ken adored spending time with his family.
Ken is loved and missed by his wife of 64 years, Lois; children, Kevin (Darla) Lyons of Gilbert, AZ and Anne Lyons; grandchildren, Ashley (Austin) Hendricks of Gilbert, AZ, Olivia Greer and Mason Greer; great-grandson, Wyatt Greer; sister-in-law, Lynn Lyons of Las Vegas, NV; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Dawn Marie Lyons, siblings, Robert Lyons, David Lyons and Sharon Milford, brother-in-law, Gerald M. Strang.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Anam Glen, Oregon Living and Rehabilitation and KSB Hospital for their loving and compassionate care of Ken.

A visitation for Kenneth will be held on Tuesday, December 10th from 12pm-2pm at Sunset Funeral Home located at 8800 N. Alpine Rd Machesney Park, IL 61115. Burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
