Laci Renee Matthews

Laci Renee Matthews, 16 of Loves Park, IL. was welcomed into heaven on Saturday, January 14, 2017 after injuries sustained in a car accident. In a life well celebrated Laci was the heartbeat of the family. Described by family and friends as hilarious, so funny and quick witted, she was just fun to be around. Born in Rockford, IL. on June 27, 2000 to Timothy Matthews and Erin Keller. Laci was a Junior at Harlem High School and brilliant. She took her studies very seriously and had high expectations of entering the medical field. Laci played basketball, softball, and loved the annual Powder Puff competition. A bowl of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Original and a buffet of candy were her comfort foods. Like all teenagers she loved shopping. She loved her family and all her friends.

Laci is survived by mother, Erin (Brian Mattis) Keller, father, Tim (Amy Bankes) Matthews; sister, Lilly Thompson; step-sister, Beonka Hernandez; grandparents, Paula and Kevin Keller and Jody and Terry Matthews; aunts, Erika, Abby, Jill, Traci; uncles, Ryan, Chuck, Scott, T.J.; lots of memories made with cousins. Predeceased by brother, Isaiah Matthews.

A life well celebrated visitation: 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sun. Jan. 22 at Harlem High School, 1 Huskie Dr. (off Alpine Rd.) with a candlelight service at 4:00 p.m. on the powder puff practice field at the high school. Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. on Mon. Jan 23, at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park, IL. burial following in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pastor Keith Manley officiating.
