Leroy J. Adams, 79, of Rockton went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 29, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Leroy was born July 23, 1939 in Naylor, MO, the son of Lester and Olive (Ainley) Adams. He married Betty L. Hammond August 10, 1957 in Rockford. Leroy was a member of New Life Pentecostal Church in Harvard and former member of Firstborn Ministries in Loves Park for 16 years. Leroy was a pipefitter for Local #23, he loved to go hunting, fishing and playing pool. His greatest enjoyment was riding around and looking for deer and wildlife. Leroy collected clocks and his greatest enjoyment was going out to eat with his family.
Leroy is survived by his wife Betty; sons: Timothy (Suzy) Adams and Dwayne (Rhonda) Adams; grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) Adams, Melanie Adams and fiancé Josh, Brandi (Phil) Legreid, Paige Rieffer (Bray Turner), twins Amber and Ashley Adams and Carley Adams; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Rose (Jay) Miles, Betty (Calvin) Sanders, Ruth (Bill) Davis and Carla (Jeff) Mackey; sister-in-law Helen Foster; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin Adams, daughter Kimberly Rieffer, brother James Adams and sister Martha Richardson.
The family would like to thank all their family members, neighbors, friends and Serenity Hospice (Deb) for all the love and care that was given to Leroy.
A service to celebrate Leroy’s life will be 2:30 pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home 8800 N. Alpine Road in Machesney Park with Pastor Rocky Nolan and Pastor Wendell Maynard officiating; visitation for Leroy will be from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
