Lillian B. Thomas

Lillian B. Thomas, 99, of Machesney Park, IL, passed away on December 24, 2022. Lillian was born in CrownHill, West Virginia on May 18, 1923 to R.L. and Ida Bland. Attended Cabin Creek High School in West Virginia. She grew up on a mini farm in West Virginia and cherished where she came from. On February 1st, 1941 Lillian married the love of her life, Gerald Thomas, in Kentucky. They spent 71 beautiful years together before Gerald passed away in 2012. As the wife of a 20 year Army Veteran she lived in Germany and other duty stations, while raising five children. She was a devout Christian woman who dedicated her life to serving the Lord. Lillian enjoyed camping and fishing but there was nothing she loved more than her family.

Lillian is survived by her children, Steve (Diane) Thomas, Sandy Thomas, and Karen (Mike) Lindstrom; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Thomas; children, Donna Apgar and Gerald R. Thomas; siblings, Jean Warrior, Pearl Dye, Blanche Bays, Delores Ware; parents, R.L. Bland and Ida Petry.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 1pm until the time of Service at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115). Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Beloit Regional Hospice Staff, specifically Nurses Kara and Jessica S., CNA's Jenna and Katie, Social Worker Tracy and Chaplin Mark.
