Max James Arrington

Max J. Arrington, 83, of Carmel, IN, passed away in his home on Monday, December 28, 2015. Max was born on September 23, 1932 to Ora Arrington, residing in Candler, NC. Max was raised on a tobacco farm by his mom and his maternal grandparents, Henry and Rebecca Arrington. Max was an avid gardener, fisherman, wood worker and loved being outdoors. He moved to Rockford, IL in 1950 and was employed by Sundstrand.

Max married Rose Valenti of Rockford, IL on October 17, 1953. Max and Rose were married 35 years. Max lost Rose, the first love of his life, on June, 4, 1988. Max retired from Elco Industries, Inc in 1994. He had a successful career in quality control for many years. Max re-met and married the next love of his life, Helen Camby on August 3, 1996. Max and Helen were married for 11 years and lived in Asheville, NC. After losing Helen in 2007, Max moved to Carmel, IN to be closer to family.

Max found great joy in attending the performances of his grandchildren, visiting with neighbors and friends, attending Faith Missionary Church and Wii bowling with his friends at Crestwood. Max "a friend to all" will always be remembered for the light and love he brought to all he met. He had the ability to see the best in everyone.

He is survived by his sons, Mike (Laura), Tim (Vicky); three grandchildren: Bethany, Megan and Spencer Arrington; his brothers and sisters, Paul Capps, Lloyd (Wilma) Coates, Ella Mae Norton, Ola Mae (Glenn) Roberts, Emma (Chris) Moffit, Floyd (Rita) Coates, Bulah (Deborah) Coates, J.C. (Teresa) Coates, Arvol (Joyce) Coates, Bernard (Katherine) Coates and Eldridge (Karen) Coates; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Rose Arrington, Helen Arrington, Henry and Rebecca Arrington, Ora Arrington Capps, Harley Coates, Boyd Coates and Eula Ann Coates.

Funeral services for Max will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park, IL followed by entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 1 pm until time of service. A Celebration of Max's Life will be held in Indianapolis, IN on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Faith Missionary Church at 10:30 am.
