Born in Wichita Kansas to Donald B. and Authorine L. Eppler on July 26, 1944.
In 1962, he graduated from Wichita High School Southeast and in June 1969,
he graduated from Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Journalism. He was employed as a technical writer for 42 years.
He worked at Beech Aircraft, Learjet and Raytheon in Wichita, KS. and at
Sundstrand in Rockford, IL . He retired in 2009.
Michael enjoyed woodworking and made many items for family members
and his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to auctions and refinishing antiques.
He loved music from the 40’s - 70’s and was a big Elvis and John Denver fan.
He enjoyed fishing at Elm Mills. Michael was a certified glider pilot and a
member of Kansas Soaring Association. He loved photography and
photographed many family weddings and events. He loved his pets;
dogs and cats, he cared for many over the years. Back in the 60’s and 70’s
he co-owned two horses with his brother and dad and one was a buggy horse
that he enjoyed driving on the dirt roads. He loved his 1965 Ford Galaxy Convertible
and enjoyed getting it restored. He was a Boy Scout - achieving Life Scout and
belonged to the Order of the Arrow. He was very proud of his son David, grandchild,
Clint and nephews, Adam and Justin for their achievement of Eagle Scout.
PaPa always had a special place in his heart for his granddaughter, McKayla.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene of 50 years; children, David (Val) Eppler ,
Amy (Todd) Nelson; sister, Marsha Ehlers; brother, Larry Eppler;
grandchildren, Graham Zediker, Clint and MaKayla Nelson; nephews,
John and Justin Eppler and Adam Ehlers.
