

ROCKFORD, IL. Norman D. Groth, 83, died Sunday, November 8, 2015 in his home surrounded by his family. Born April 12, 1932 in Cherokee, Iowa to William and Leila (Brown) Groth. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Eagles Club of Rockford. He married Alvina Roeder and together shared 63 years of marriage. He worked hard to provide for his family at J.L. Case and Chrysler. Norman along with his wife enjoyed the companionship of a good fishing pole while camping at their favorite place at Lake Koshkognog. He showcased his fish fileting talents with his son William. He loved to garden and enjoyed sharing his vegetable and apple harvest with family and friends. He was a wonderful grandparent and a loving and best friend dad.
Survivors: wife, Alvina: children, Theresa Golden, Shirley Burchard, Jerry Groth and Bill (Angie) Groth; grandchildren, Casey, Nakia, Leah, Christopher (Kristina Stopka) Springer, Jason, Nick, Brandon and Rachel; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Shulze and Dorthy M. Johns. Predeceased by parents; grandson, Tanner Groth; brothers, Ron and Richard Groth; sons-in-law, Bill Maverick and Lonnie Burchard.
