

Rockford, IL — Olivia Maria Marshall, 71, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, September 29, 2025. Born November 11, 1953, in Rockford, Illinois, to Alfred and Roberta Robinson, Olivia lived a life marked by joy, faith, and unwavering love for her family and community. She attended William Dennis Elementary, Washington Middle School, and graduated from Auburn High School in 1971. In her early years, she worked as a lifeguard at the 10th Avenue pool, trained at Nola’s Beauty School, and was a lunch aid at William Dennis Elementary. Later she gave many years of service to Rockford District 205 as driver for the school bus company.
Her love for music was shared as a member of the Robinson Sisters, and her faith was lived throughout Washington Park Christian Church, where she served faithfully on the Mother’s Board, the praise and worship team, the adult choir, and in countless other ways. Olivia was also an avid bowler in the Park Lanes league and enjoyed the simple joys of lifetime with her family, parades, and trips to the drive-in. On June 17, 2000, she married her beloved husband, Daniel Marshall, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter.
Olivia leaves behind cherished memories with her husband, Daniel Marshall; daughters Shannon (Ervin) Milton and Lucille Ross and significant other Carl Marshall; eighteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Geraldine (Larry) Phillips, Rosiland Scott, and Mary (Robert) Bulger; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a special friend, Brenda Barton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Roberta Robinson; her brother, William Allen; her daughter, Angela Pickett; her son, Terrance Ross; and her special brother-in-law, David Scott.
Her life was a testimony of love, faith, and resilience. Olivia will be remembered for her laughter, her song, and her steadfast devotion to all those she held dear.
